Three Skin Issues XTRAC Can Help Treat

Published on: September 30, 2016

Skin issues can cause a host of problems. Not just medically, but socially and mentally as well. Rashes quite often pop up in spots that are quite visible to others, and many people just don’t understand that skin conditions aren’t always contagious (and are rarely a sign of poor hygiene). As such, sufferers of psoriasis, vitiligo, or atopic dermatitis may find themselves hiding under layers of clothing and make-up when possible, or merely staying home and away from the judgmental eyes of the less knowledgeable. Fortunately, medical technology has made great strides in the treatment of these three skin conditions, and XTRAC, a form of laser treatment, has been shown to be a great help in the treatment of all three.

The Skin Conditions

Skin disease comes in many forms, but the three we will be talking about today are psoriasis, vitiligo, and atopic dermatitis. Chances are you’ve seen the commercials about psoriasis and have a pretty good idea as to what it is, but the other two may not be something you have heard of before.

Psoriasis – Characterized by a build-up of rough, dry and scaly skin that appears in patches all over your body, there is no cure for the disease, but the symptoms can be treated. Psoriasis is thought to be an autoimmune disorder.

Vitiligo – This skin disorder presents itself with patches of skin where there is no pigment, meaning it will be pale and colorless. As with psoriasis there is no cure, but there are treatments that can help.

Atopic Dermatitis – The mildest skin condition of the three, atopic dermatitis is characterized by a red and inflamed rash that is treatable. Many times this rash is a result of an allergic reaction and can disappear by changing soaps or detergents. Other times the rash can be cured by a topical cream.

What is XTRAC?

A small handheld laser used by a physician in the treatment of skin conditions, XTRAC has been cleared by the FDA and has been found to be beneficial in the treatment of skin disease, especially the three we have talked about here. Consisting of an Ultraviolet B (UVB) light that penetrates the skin and treats the source of the condition, XTRAC is proven safe and painless.
