Summer Skin Care Treatments

Published on: June 30, 2020

We are all expecting a hot summer season this year. When the sun is out for longer, you should expect greater risk for sun damage. Whether spend more time in sun during summer or not, it is a great time to consider skin care treatments. Be ready for this summer season with the variety of treatments we offer at the Skin & Vein Center.

HydraFacial

Skin changes over time, and with those changes come new developments such as red patches, brown spots, and clogged pores. These can develop with more exposure to UV rays, especially during the summer season. Give your skin the treatment it needs to look and feel great again. Our HydraFacial is one such treatment that can reduce the signs of aging while reinvigorating collagen production in your skin. HydraFacials are a quick and easy treatment that can be done in as little as half an hour. We use a state-of-the-art handheld device that removes dead skin cells on your skin and opens up your pores. Any impurities such as blackheads will be removed through suction. Last, we apply a rich serum full of antioxidants that will help the collage production in your skin.

You will be able to see the results of your HydraFacial immediately and the treatment can be done on a regular basis as needed. While it does not provide the more thorough results you will find with a chemical peel or microdermabrasion, it is gentle on the face, leaving it feeling refreshed.

Chemical Peels

Another great way to fight off the signs of aging and sun exposure is through an incredible procedure known as a chemical peel. This treatment also works by removing the dead skin cells found on your skin. Instead of scrubbing it off, we use a chemical solution that will cause the skin layer to peel. Chemical peels can be provided on different levels from light peels to deep peels, each offering their own benefits. Light peels will take care of skin level damage such as light freckling and active acne. Deep peels are great for reducing fine lines and skin pigmentation issues.

Chemical peels are noninvasive and require no downtime for you. Deeper peels may require anesthesia and leave you with some swelling or blisters that will fade in a few days. Similar to a HydraFacial chemical peels can be redone on a scheduled basis with our staff. Keep your skin looking great all summer long!

Microneedling

When our skin heals, it begins to produce more collagen and elastin, helping it become softer and looking better. One procedure that allows us to have your skin naturally produce these chemicals is microneedling. This treatment creates controlled microscopic injuries that will do just that. As the skin heals from these tiny injuries, it will leave your skin with more collagen and elastin. Microneedling is another quick procedure, taking less than half an hour to complete.

Following your treatment, patients of microneedling can expect smoother skin and less noticeable stretch marks. You will even have acne scars reduced in appearance! Patients will heal quickly and be wowed by their results over the summer. Most patients claim the treatment feels like sandpaper across the skin, but a hydrating gel will help you remain comfortable through the treatment.

Laser Skin Resurfacing

If you want to target fine lines and wrinkles around the eyes and forehead, consider laser skin resurfacing this summer. This type of procedure works great by targeting wrinkles that result from aging, UV ray exposure, smoking, and even stress. Laser skin resurfacing can even help reduce the appearance of uneven pigmentation. The procedure works by vaporizing the outer skin layer with a laser. While this may sound scary, it is very safe, and our team will help keep you comfortable. The pain of the procedure is very minimal. After the procedure is done, expect to see softened frown lines, improved skin texture and tone, and renewed collagen production.

Our average laser skin resurfacing treatment can take around an hour to complete. We apply a topical anesthetic cream to your face, so you remain comfortable from start to finish. Your skin will heal over the next week after your procedure is complete. Most patients report feeling a sensation of a sunburn on the treated area. Your skin will look pink at first but regain its proper color over the following weeks.
