Aging is such a common culprit to the breakdown of many areas of the face and body causing sagging skin, deeper lines and wrinkles, slowed metabolism, and a loss of volume in creating a youthful, refreshed appearance. To combat many of the tell-tale signs of aging, healthy living is always important as proper diet and exercise can go a long way in keep the body strong, toned, and in better physical condition all around. However, even the strictest diets and most consistent exercise regimens can only go so far as to slowdown, or even help reverse obvious signs of aging which is when cosmetic intervention can really make a big difference.

The face is one of the first areas to show obvious signs of aging and stress and most people with complaints about their appearance tend to worry about their face first. Fine lines appearing around the mouth, in particular, can cause a face to look much older than it is.

Sometimes the lips themselves lose some of their volumes as we age making the mouth look drawn out and tired. Lip enhancement procedures can be used to restore plumper lips while reducing fine lines and wrinkles around the mouth through the use of injectable fillers.

Good candidates for lip enhancement procedures are anyone, men and women both, who are looking for fuller lips while reducing the appearance of wrinkles and lines then tend to congregate around the mouth.

Injectable fillers are commonly used in modern-day lip enhancement procedures and the most common fillers include Perlane, Radiance, Juvederm, and Restylane. Your doctor or technician can help you determine which filler is most appropriate for your individual circumstances to achieve the desired results.

Before treatment, patients are asked to refrain from any use of anti-inflammatory medicines which may increase bruising or bleeding during and after the treatment. The treatment itself begins with the application of an anesthetic cream which is applied to the area to numb it beforehand. A very small needle is then carefully inserted and the filler is injected into the region. Most patients will notice some mild swelling directly following treatment and likely for a few days at least post-treatment as well as some slight tenderness in the area. Patients can, however, return to their normal activities direct following their lip enhancement procedure.

The cost of a lip enhancement procedure will depend upon your specific needs as a patient as well as a few other factors, so be sure to schedule a consultation to have all your questions answered.
