About Daxxify

What makes Daxxify different from other neuromodulator injectables is the incorporation of a peptide called RTP004. (2) This peptide allows Daxxify to enhance its binding capabilities, which in turn prolongs the effects that Daxxify can have on patients’ faces. (2) By injecting Daxxify into the muscles where movement and contraction cause wrinkles, Daxxify can relax and smooth specific areas.

In addition to smoothing the appearance of frown lines, Daxxify can be used for a condition called cervical dystonia. Cervical dystonia is a painful, chronic condition where a person will experience involuntary spasms in the neck muscles. (3)

Preparation

Our team at Skin & Vein Center will ensure that you are well-prepared for your Daxxify treatment. During your personal consultation with a professional from our team, we will let you know what specific medications and supplements to avoid before your Daxxify appointment, such as those that have blood-thinning qualities. Before you come to the office on the day of your procedure, make sure to wash your face with soap and water, removing any makeup.

Procedure

To begin your Daxxify treatment, a Skin & Vein Center professional will make sure you are comfortable and answer any last-minute questions you might have. Next, they will cleanse the targeted area. Using a small needle, they will inject Daxxify into the two different muscles that cause the wrinkles that form in between the brows when you smile or frown: the corrugator muscle and the procerus muscle. (2) The procedure is over in as little as 15 minutes, after which, you will be able to continue on with regular activities.

Recovery

After your Daxxify treatment, we will ask that you do not lie down for at least 4 hours to ensure the proper distribution of the Daxxify. It is advised that you avoid strenuous activities after the injections. (2) If you work out, do so before treatment or the following day so it does not affect the results of your treatment.

During your recovery period, it is normal to experience bruising, redness, and discomfort at the injection site. (2) You should not receive any facials, facial lasers, or facial massage in the treated areas of the injection site.

About three weeks after your Daxxify treatment, we recommend scheduling a follow-up appointment at Skin & Vein Center to evaluate your results and make sure you are satisfied with them. At this point, you may be able to receive a “touch-up” treatment.

Results

As a result of receiving a Daxxify treatment, you should find your forehead area smoother and free of deep frown lines. Without these lines, your face will appear more youthful and less strained, and they will be less likely to cause permanent, deeper grooves in the future. Daxxify results can be prolonged with additional injections once the results from the first treatment wear off.

FAQ

How is Daxxify different from Botox?

Daxxify and Botox are both neuromodulator injectables meant to smooth wrinkles. However, they differ in their makeup and the length of time their results can last. Daxxify can last up to 6-9 months, whereas Botox and other neuromodulators can last about 3-4 months.

Are Daxxify treatments painful?

Like other facial injections, your Daxxify treatment may result in some mild discomfort, bruising, and redness at the injection site. You may also experience a headache. However, these side effects should resolve soon after your appointment is over. We recommend using a cold compress after your Skin & Vein professional tells you it is alright to touch your face again.

How often do Daxxify results last?

Daxxify results can last 6-9 months, which is a longer timeframe than other comparable facial injectables. Patients who wish to get recurring injections may only have to do so twice a year to maintain frown-line-free results.

Can Daxxify replace surgical brow lift procedures?

While Daxxify provides excellent results for reducing facial wrinkles and lines, it does not address concerns such as sagging skin and excess tissue that are commonly addressed with surgical brow lift procedures.

How long does it take for the results of Daxxify to set in?

The results of your Daxxify treatment will most likely start to be visible 1-2 days after your treatment with full or peak results at approximately three weeks.
