If you are like us, you cannot wait for the COVID-19 quarantine to end. Of course, we want to be sure that it is safe to do so, so be sure to follow direction from your local government and health officials until the crisis is over. The stay-at-home order provides a lot of time for introspection, and after the quarantine is lifted, you may want to make some personal changes. Now is the perfect time to look ahead and see what kind of facial rejuvenation procedure you may want or need to get back that youthful look you used to have. Here are a few procedures you may want to consider:
Contents
HydraFacial
One of our most popular facial rejuvenation treatments here at the Skin & Vein Center is the HydraFacial. This noninvasive procedure is designed to help you fight off the signs of stress and aging. Our skin changes over time and with those changes come clogged pores, wrinkles, and brown spots. A handheld applicator is used to brush your skin of dead skin cells that will open up your pores. Any impurities and blackheads will be removed with suction before an antioxidant-rich serum is applied directly to your skin. This will allow renewed collagen production to help reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
The HydraFacial is a great option to help clean your face of impurities. The procedure can be completed in as little as half an hour and does not require any kind of anesthetic. Patients report that they remain comfortable throughout the entire procedure. Receiving regular HydraFacial treatments will help you see long-term differences such as skin cleansing and brightening.
Chemical Peel
If your face has more skin damage, you might be better off with a chemical peel. Do not let the name scare you as chemical peels are a great addition to your skin care routine. Chemical peels work by applying a type of trichloracetic acid that will cause the skin on your face to peel. Chemical peels can be given in different levels—superficial, medium, and deep peels—depending on the type of treatment you need. By removing the top layer of dead skin cells, you will be able to get rid of lots of skin impurities. Chemical peels are a great procedure to reduce the appearance of wrinkles, sun spots, sun damage, acne, and uneven pigmentation.
As mentioned, chemical peels are a bit more thorough than a HydraFacial and come with some minor side effects. Superficial peels are light and may leave you with pink skin for a day or two, almost like a light sunburn. Deeper peels may require a form of anesthesia and will leave your face looking red with possible blisters and swelling. Deeper peels are only recommended when you have more severe damage to treat such as acne scars and deep wrinkles.
Microneedling
Another facial rejuvenation procedure we offer to help treat the signs of aging is microneedling. This procedure makes tiny punctures into the skin before a rejuvenating serum is applied. This procedure helps with your skin’s elasticity and firmness. Microneedling is great when paired with a light chemical peel. While tiny punctures may sound scary at first, most patients report the feeling is nothing more than that of rubbing sandpaper. Expect to find similar side effects with microneedling as the other treatments listed above.
Fillers
If you are looking to fill in lost volume in your face, a filler can be a great procedure to seek out after quarantine ends. These simple treatments use a natural filler that is injected into areas where you want to see more volume. Common areas include the lips, corners of the mouth, laugh lines, and wherever wrinkles can occur. We offer a variety of filler injectables that are recommended based upon what you are looking for.
Filler treatments can be completed in just a few minutes and leave you with no downtime. Some patients may experience minor swelling or tenderness for a few hours, but this will quickly subside. Injectable fillers can also be maintained with regularly scheduled visits.
Laser Hair Removal
One of the biggest downsides to the quarantine is having salons be temporarily shut down. Your body hair may be going out of control, but it is nothing that laser hair removal cannot take care of. Laser hair removal is an advanced procedure that can help get rid of unwanted body hair. Laser energy will be used to target your hair follicles. This disables each follicle, causing hair growth to permanently cease. Our hair grows in cycles, so several treatments will be needed for full results.
Similar to fillers, laser hair removal can be done in just a few minutes depending on the size of the treatment area. Larger areas such as the back can take several hours. Side effects can include minor discomfort and swelling but quickly fade. Enjoy your smooth skin and show it off this summer after we get to leave our homes.
